Early Years Foundation Stage - Reception

Children are admitted to the Reception Class in the school year in which they are 5 years old. The Reception class is staffed with a full time class teacher and a full-time teaching assistant. The Reception classroom is made up of two classrooms opened up into one large open plan classroom. The toilets and cloakroom are very close by. The Reception class has its own outdoor area and children have access to this all day. During dinnertimes, Reception children play in the infant playground with Year 1 and Year 2 children.

Applications for a place in the Reception class are dealt with centrally through the local authority. All parents must apply for a Reception place.
